Thanks brain...

Last night, for the first time in ages, I had one of those "IVF isn't going to work. You're never going to be a Mum" staring at the ceiling from 2.30am kinda nights. Needless to say sleep has evaded me for the majority of the night.

You'd be surprised how many times one woman can google "tenaculum and IVF success" or "clamped cervix and IVF" between the hours of 2.30am and 7am!! I wonder if there's a current record..??

  1. Why are you searching tenaculum?! lol. If they ever suggest that for a transfer, say NO! You're not going to need it and if you do, you're going to insist that they freeze the embryos and do a cervical dilatation.

Positive vibes. Positive vibes. It's going to be good.

  2. I have no choice :( tenaculum is the only torture device that will work my two cervical openings and 90 degree bends. When the NHS is funding your treatment you don't get a say in what they can and can't do.

Here's hoping my cervix is playing nice on the day of transfer... X

  3. That sucks. They won't pay for cervical dilatation? Here's to hoping your cervix behaves.
I swear, the more IFers I come across that have cervix abnormalities, the more I'm convinced it plays a role in IF. They keep saying no, the sperm can swim through any bend, but I dunno.

  4. They will do cervical dilation if a) they can't insert a catheter at all during a mock ET or b) first IVF fails and they think it was due to the cervix.

During my mock ET I was something like CD24 and my cervix was acting up, I'm hoping with instructions (my notes have things like "45 degree immediate right bend" on them") and tons of the correct hormones she's easier to navigate. I did manage to get pregnant on my own so who knows...?!
