The great Briggs vs. Infertility timeline

December 2009 - Relationship began. Complete cliched love of my life kind of whirlwind romance.

June 2010 - Whilst on holiday, I forgot to take my next box of pills with me, rendering us unprotected for the whole 2 weeks. One evening, after we had a slight slip up, Martin said "If it happens it happens...." The official beginning of TTC

July - Christmas 2010 - Knew all about ovulation and how the birds and the bees work, so got to it. I had regular periods and knew when ovulation should happen. Lots and lots of unprotected sex, obviously convinced I was pregnant every month. Why else would I spend so many days worrying when I'd missed a pill? Pregnancy never occurred.

December 8th 2010 - Engaged

January 2011 - Decided to make sure I was actually ovulating when I thought I was. Purchased our very first set of OPKs and BBT. The beginning of the end! Turned out I was ovulating when I predicted...

July 2011- 14 Months later. Began to worry something was wrong. Sat down and had the conversation about what we were going to do. Would a doctor take us seriously at our ages? The seed of doubt planted and appointment with GP made.

August 2011 - First appointment with GP. Day 3 and day 21 bloods sent for and Martin sent to do his first Seman Analysis. Whilst waiting for the results to come through, natural BFP.

September 2011 - Miscarriage

October 26th 2011 - Married in York, England.

December 14th 2011 - First Fertility Specialist appointment. All results looked fine, SA was fine and bloods showed I was ovulating and hormones were perfect. Unexplained so far. HSG to be schedules after next AF.

February 2012 - Difficult HSG showed two open tubes and no abnormalities. Structurally OK and assured that difficult cervix would not cause problems with conceiving.

March 30th 2012 - Follow up appointment with fertility specialist. All tests failed to show any problems. Prescribed 4 months Clomid, unmonitored. (FS never tested AMH levels, had they have one they would have realised how dangerous putting me on unmonitored Clomid would be)

April 2012 - Long awaited honeymoon and first round of Clomid. BFN.

May 2012 - Break from Clomid after difficult failed cycle. Register with new GP and request to be referred to a new Fertility Specialist to continue with treatment.

June 2012 - Clomid round 2. BFN. Informed by new GP that it takes 6 weeks for medical records to be transferred from old GP, therefore referral to FS cannot be made.

July 2012 - Clomid round 3. BFN. Medical notes received, referral made..

August 2012 - Clomid round 4. BFN. Informed by GP that they have no record of us requesting a referral to a fertility specialist. Referral now sent.

September 2012 - 4 months later appointment with gynaecology department finally given.

October 2012 - First appointment with Dr.Jivraj at the new hospital. All tests looks fine, but would like to re-run bloods and SA in the hospital lab. Would like me to have a check up with cardiologist prior to treatment due to a heart condition I have, if all goes well theres nothing stopping us beginning treatment in January.

October 2012 - January 2013 - Limbo

January 2013 - Follow up appointment. All tests fine, in fact perfect. Still no appointment with cardiologist? Surprise surprise, turns out the appointment was never made. Although fit and ready to begin treatment, treatment held back until cardiologist appointment.

February 25th 2013 - 4 months after initial referral cardiologist appointment. All fine. Arteries narrowing at a very slow pace and valve holding up fine. No medical reason why I should't get pregnant.

February - May 2013 - Infertility Limbo. Secretary fails to make referral to ACU for treatment, when the referral is finally made we are informed we need another appointment with Dr.Jivraj prior to any treatment. Appointment wait time is 3 months and finally get in May 17th 2013. Five whole months after we were told we could start treatment.

May 2013 - Informed we could start IUI at next AF.

June 2013 - Make appointment to begin IUI at ACU. Attend our first appointment with nurse and are informed that my AMH levels are too high for IUI due to high risk of multiples and my heart condition. Would like to send us straight for IVF, appointment with Dr.Jivraj needed first.

June 2013 - Appointment with Dr. confirms we are good to begin IVF treatment after next AF.

July 11th 2013 - AF arrives. Appointment with ACU made, medications collected, scans performed and everything ready to go.

July 20th 2013 - Hospitalised with acute cholecystitus and infection of the liver. IVF Aborted.

July 26th 2013....... Awaiting surgery to remove gallbladder. All treatment postponed until after surgery and health returns.

October 18th 2013 - Hospitalised second time due to acute cholecystitus and sever liver infection. This time gallbladder removed October 20th 2014.

November 15th 2013 - Begin new job.

November 21st 2014 - Follow up appointment with Assissted Conception Unit. Agree to postpone IVF until February 2014 to allow for the Christmas period and to settle into new job before beginning treatment.

January/February 2014 - IVF number 2 begins.

February 8th 2014 - Egg collection.

February 13th 2014 - Embryo transfer cancelled due to mild OHSS. Hospitalised 2 days. 18 eggs collected, 12 fertilised. 4 Day 3 embryos frozen and 3 blastocysts frozen.

March 2014 - FET consultation with ACU. Ready to transfer April 2014.

April 20th 2014 - Morula transfered. Cervix issue not a problem and transfer went well.

April 29th 2014 - BFN.

May 2014 - FET number 2. Bloods show 7 day delay in ovulation.

May 27th 2014 - Blastocyst transfer.

June 3rd 2014 - 9dp5dt BFP! HCG 98

June 20th 2014 - 6w1d Scan. Heart beat seen.

July 30th 2014 - 11w6d scan. All fine. Baby measured 4 days ahead. Heat beating away, arms and legs wiggling away. NT scan 1.2mm. Combined blood results 1/870000 chance of downs syndrome.
